Virtual Worlds – How We Turned Simulated Learning into Virtual Reality
This virtual world project was borne out of a real learning need, where learners worked remotely and were unable to attend face-to-face classes, nor complete learning and assessment tasks which relied on simulated group work.
Deslie-Ann will share how TAFE New South Wales took an existing partnership with an international organisation that provides simulated learning classroom-based training program, and maximised students’ learning using their virtual world platform.
In her session, Deslie-Ann will illustrate a fly-through of the virtual educational environment. Participants will see and hear how TAFE NSW uses this technology to enable remote and flexible learning experiences that are more real than the standard simulations that are most often used. You will be enthralled by how TAFE NSW is able to maximise learning by overlaying a Hyperconnected Learning Model using social networking spaces, which enables the creation of connections and networks between learners and their peers, as well as with industry experts across Australia and around the world. This has directly improved the learning experience of individual learners and optimised workforce development initiatives.
