Paul Gagnon – Pioneer in the integration of E-Learning Systems to support a blended learning pedagogy, and a leader in the field.
Mr Paul Gagnon is Director of E-Learning & IT Services at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. A certified teacher, teacher trainer, premiere workshop presenter and researcher, he has extensive experience in staff development; project management; design, development and scripting of online eLearning Modules; and the development and delivery of training workshops for lecturers.
Prior to this role, Mr Gagnon was Director at the Centre for Excellence in Collaborative Learning at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore, and prior to that was Senior Deputy Director at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
At NTU, his responsibilities included: faculty development; design and management of the College of Engineering pilot programme to support distance education; and instructional design and the use instructional technology to support the conversion of traditional courses to web-based courses via the Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard.
Before joining NTU, he was an Educational Development Specialist / Instructional Designer at Singapore Polytechnic, as well as having held several consultant positions in Canada.
He has received funding from the Provost Reinvestment Fund at NTU, and was a co-principal investigator for research grants from the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation.
He is a leader in effective online systems and course development, and is a pioneer in the integration of E-Learning Systems to support a blended learning pedagogy. Most notable is his integration of the Learning Activity Management System known as LAMS within the LMS Blackboard, and the Curriculum Management System known as Compass.
